User reviews Review. Top review. Top gun, loved and loathed by many alike. The film that launched Tom Cruise's career. I'm a student and watching Top Gun for me is an amazing uplifting experience.
A 'feel good' movie that could lift the worse of moods. The film executes cheese to perfection, yes there are some silly lines but there are some real good ones too! The aerial action sequences are truly amazing, and for nothing short of magnificent. The reason why Top Gun appeals to me Imagine yourself on a Saturday night, not painting the town red staying in for the night. You have your few cans of Budweiser, your nachos what more could you ask for. From the amazing flight sequences, Mavericks motorbike, trashy romance and to the cool 80's soundtrack.
Top Gun should be taken for what it is. An entertaining Film. FAQ 7. What military conflict is going on in the movie? Is there an actual war, or just one isolated incident against Soviet fighter planes for some reason? There's also the fan-made LEGO version of the trailer that is just as incredible as it sounds. This is incredible. Great work! At CinemaCon in August before the latest delay , the first 13 minutes of the movie were shown to audiences, as well as a new trailer.
According to Deadline , the opening sees Maverick defy the Admiral and fly to Mach He reaches Mach 10, but the plane soon explodes.
Fortunately, Maverick survives otherwise it'd be a very short movie. It's unclear when the new trailer or any of this footage will be released online. Given the latest release date delay, it's likely that we won't see anything new from the movie until nearer its new May date.
Director Joseph Kosinski is keeping tight-lipped over how their relationship has changed in the intervening years though. But how has Maverick changed in the decades since we last saw him?
Well, he hasn't exactly. He's the best at what he does, and he's given his whole life to aviation. It's a rite-of-passage story, much like the first film was.
But this is a man now at a different stage of life. Anthony Edwards isn't ruling out a Ghost Goose plot, but at least if we don't get that, we do have Miles Teller appearing as Goose's son Bradley Bradshaw. In the trailer shown at CinemaCon , it seems as though Bradley isn't the biggest fan of Maverick. One person who won't be back from the original is Michael Ironside as Lieutenant Commander Rick 'Jester' Heatherly, with the actor putting it down to the fact that his relationship with producer Jerry Bruckheimer apparently isn't the greatest.
Say it ain't so! After being rumoured for the role of Goose's son, Glen Powell did sign up for the movie in a mystery role named Hangman. The sequel will also star Jennifer Connelly as the movie's female lead, playing a single mother who runs a local bar near the Navy base. She'll be joined by Jon Hamm and Ed Harris , the latter as a so-far unnamed rear admiral and Maverick's direct superior.
The official plot synopsis for the sequel is as follows:. The world might have changed since the first movie for Maverick, but expect him to still be undertaking intense flights, ones so big that the crew had to ask the Navy for permission to film one of the most extreme stunts.
In case you didn't believe the hype about the lack of CGI, the producers released this breathtaking video:. No CGI here. Bruckheimer added : "What's different about this movie is that [in the original Top Gun ] we put the actors in the Fs and we couldn't use one frame of it, except some stuff on Tom, because they all threw up.
So everything was done on a gimbal. But in this movie, Tom wanted to make sure the actors could actually be in the Fs. Top Gun: Maverick is set for release in cinemas on May 27, Type keyword s to search. Let's hope that claim still holds true come summer Skydance Paramount.
